About Me

Christian G. Martinez
As the child of Cuban exiles and great-grandchild of Spanish immigrants, I grew up fascinated by history and found myself drawn to history from all over the world. Growing up, I made a lot of wonderful childhood memories with family visiting American historic sites and enriching myself with knowledge. As I got older, I was blessed to be invited to a traditional wedding in Colombia and explore a bit about Hispano-American history. One of the first places I visited in Colombia was the Quinta de Bolívar - one of the homes of Simón Bolívar. Years later, I was blessed to live three years in the Balkans and later spend two years studying in Germany.
While living in Europe, I was able to visit several historic sites including the Duomo in Florence, the Tower of London, Diocletian’s Palace in Split (Croatia), St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City, numerous historic Orthodox churches and buildings in the Balkans, as well as the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain’s Galicia region which also happens to be the same region where my two great-grandparents born in Spain were from. It all started around July 2022 while living in Cape Coral when I had become inspired to begin a history blog, Unveiling Spanish America, after hearing of the existence of an early Spanish mission from the 16th Century in my county. From that moment on, I had immersed myself into the world of my country’s earliest history - the Spanish Mission Period. Little did I know that the Spanish missions would serve as the start of something great.

What began as a simple leisure history blog accompanied by photographs morphed into a full-on historical and Christian apologetical project aimed at educating readers on the rich Christian heritage (including Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox) of the United States and the rich history of the Christian faith that built and transformed Western Civilization. My journey into the world of all things legal also allowed me to include in this blog mentions of this nation’s rich legal history spanning the Spanish Frontier Periods (in the Southeast and the West), the British Colonial Period and into the modern-day. We cover not only American history but also the history of Christianity, its spread through Europe, its introduction to the New World, its spread into what is today the United States and the influence it has had on American history. It is my hope that readers will find benefit to this project as a historical resource and motivate them to learn more about this nation’s rich heritage.
